About the Journal

Aims & Scope
The Journal of Operational Medicine (JOM) is the official publication of the Academy of Operational Medicine. It is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal for interdisciplinary research in all aspects of operational medicine. This journal is intended for researchers, practitioners, and students who provide medicine within unconventional, hostile, or austere environments where access to critical resources is severely limited. 

Open Access Statement
JOM is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or their institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.

Publishing Fees
There are no fees to publish open-access articles in this journal. Membership in the Academy of Operational Medicine is not a requisite for publication and does not influence editorial decisions.

Peer Review Policy
All manuscripts undergo double anonymous peer review by at least two independent reviewers and will be published within six months of submission if accepted. Peer reviewers will comply with all ethical guidelines set forth by COPE.

Plagiarism Policy
JOM screens all submissions for plagiarism through Crossref Similarity Check. 

Funding Source
The Academy of Operational Medicine fully funds this journal through the annual dues of its fellowship.

Advertising Policy
Advertisements are not accepted to preserve the integrity of the journal. 

Archiving Policy
JOM is archived through the Public Knowledge Project’s Preservation Network in support of Project JASPER.

Repository Policy
JOM allows authors to deposit all versions of their work in an institutional or other repository of their choice without embargo. 

Misconduct Policy
In cases of alleged or proven scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism, JOM will take all appropriate measures to clarify the situation and amend or retract the article in question.
